About the Coalition:

The Healthy Waters Coalition works to protect and restore the interconnected waters of the Ohio River Basin, which supply drinking water to more than 30 million people. Our over 100 member organizations hail from local, state, regional, and national organizations.

We’re a new coalition that opened its doors in October 2025. The formation of the Healthy Waters Coalition stems from a growing and powerful movement of committed people and organizations who want to address longstanding threats to local waters. We believe that by working together, we can accomplish great things.

Healthy Waters Coalition members hail from across the Ohio River region, which includes portions of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

The Coalition seeks to:

  1. Secure a regional restoration and protection plan for the region
  2. Secure new federal investments from the US Congress to implement the regional restoration plan
