The Healthy Waters Coalition and its over 100 member organizations are working together to elevate Ohio River Basin restoration and protection as a national priority, so that we can address urgent threats like toxic pollution, sewage contamination, habitat loss, and flooding.
The Ohio River Basin is vast, including portions of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well as the Seneca Nation of Indians, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
The Healthy Waters Coalition is dedicated to ensuring that all 30 million people in the region have access to clean, safe and affordable water.

The Healthy Waters Coalition works to protect and restore the interconnected waters of the Ohio River Basin, which supply drinking water to more than 30 million people. Our over 100 member organizations hail from local, state, regional, and national organizations.
We’re a new coalition that opened its doors in October 2025. The formation of the Healthy Waters Coalition stems from a growing and powerful movement of committed people and organizations who want to address longstanding threats to local waters. We believe that by working together, we can accomplish great things.
Healthy Waters Coalition members hail from across the Ohio River region, which includes portions of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
